Mid production No Series Nagoya Long:
Nagoya only made around 8,000 of the Type 99 Long variant, making it a fairly uncommon rifle to find. There are several differences between the Nagoya Type 99 Long and later production short rifles.
-The stocks are similar in style to Type 38's, with under slung sling swivels and short pattern top hand guard. They are still considerably thinner than Type 38 stocks in profile.
-Note the rear barrel band is different from Type 99 short rifles, with the underslung swivel.
-AA sights on the rear sight adjuster are of a different design due to the different lengths of the barrel on these Type 99 longs.
-The guards on the front sight will be rounded, rather than angled as on later short rifles.
-The locations of the serial number on the firing pin and extractor are in different locations than later Type 99 short rifles.
-Please note, on this example the monopod is a reproduction. Original Type 99 Long monopods are extremely rare to find. However, note that it is slightly longer than the short rifle monopod, and the springs that hold it in place on the rear barrel band are much different than the short rifle system.

Late production No Series Nagoya Long:
This example is of a late production Type 99 Long by Nagoya. The only major difference to note is that the stock is now proof marked with a "Ri" proof in the lower position, for the Torimatsu facotry. Early rifles had stocks made in the Chigusa facotry, where Nagoya Type 38 production occurred.
-Please note, originally this rifle would have had a monopod and dust cover, but it is very rare to find them still on original Type 99 Longs. Most of these Long versions seem to have not been issued outside of Japan based on the mint condition they are found in. As such, many small parts like the monopod, dust cover, AA sights, and cleaning rod are often found removed from the rifle, likely during scrap drives as the war progressed.

Please note: Originally all Type 99 Longs would have had a matching dust cover. These are incredibly hard to find on surviving examples.
