24th Series Kokura
Early production 24th series w/ short push in cleaning rod:
The earliest pattern 24th series were basically exactly like very late 23rd series rifles. Originally they would have had matching dust cover. Though the pictured example is missing one, the receiver shows wear consistent with a dust cover. The rear band has an attachment point for a monopod, but there was never one installed. It's possible some of the earliest 24th series rifles may have had monopods, but it was inconsistent if so.
Early rifles continue to use the AA sights on the rear sight, and some may have chrome bolt faces, as well as chrome bores. However even some late 23rd series are seen without the chrome bolt face, so it's not a sure thing even early in the series.
The stock shows typical late war Kokura chatter marks, and there will be no proof marks on the bottom of the stock.
The special feature of the early 24th and late 23rd series rifles is a short push in cleaning rod. The stock itself is not drilled for the long style cleaning rod, but uses the early square retainer. The rod is 5 3/4 inches in length. Some seem to have a hollow end while others look to be machine without the hollowing out. Only the first few thousand rifles likely had this style of cleaning rod, before Kokura switched to a screw in style. That makes these very early rifles quite rare to find!

Short style push in cleaning rod, unique to the late 23rd and early 24th series rifles:
Serial number locations (extractors will not be numbered and dust covers were likely originally included and matched to serial number)
