12th Series Nagoya
The 12th series of Nagoya production is one of the most rare of all Type 99 variants. Based on the few surviving serial numbers, less than 1,000 are thought to have been produced before the end of the war. These were likely made in the last month of the war, prior to August 1945. This makes the 12th series a very hard to find rifle.
-Known examples tend to follow the pattern of late 11th series rifles, including a lack of a dust cover groove, a rear barrel band without a swivel attached, and use of a rope hole stock.
-This example is missing the attachment point for the sling swivel on the rear barrel band, but it appears just just have been damaged and fallen off, as remains of the attachment point are still visible.
Special thanks to Gunboards member "seinen" for providing photos of this very rare rifle.
