37th Series TJK
Early production 37th series:
Early 37th series rifles will have similar features to other early production Type 99's including:
-Rear sight w/ Anti Aircraft Wings
-A monopod on the rear barrel band (with the spring featuring a proof mark)
-Long style cleaning rod
-Numbered dust cover
-Chrome bore and bolt face
Like other arsenals, these features slowly being to disappear as production continued towards the transitional style mid war rifles.

Mid production 37th series:
As a mid production example of a 37th series rifle, you will see many transitional features, including:
-A receiver without the "Type 99" text, only a mum
-Rear sight with a slider lacking AA sight attachment points
-Front sight without the protective guards
-Screw in style cleaning rod
Notice that there is now distinct "chatter" marks on the wrist of the stock, which is something found quite often on 37th series TJK rifles.
This rifle would not have been issued with a dust cover by this point in the series.

Later production 37th series:
As a late production example of a 37th series rifle, you will see a continuation of many transitional features, including:
-A receiver without the "Type 99" text, only a mum
-Rear sight with a slider lacking AA sight attachment points
-Front sight without the protective guards
-Lack of any cleaning rod retention system. The front plate of the bayonet lug is not drilled to accept a cleaning rod
The stocks on many of these later 27th series rifles have an interesting feature. They are inletted for a 2 screw rear sling swivel, but instead have the single screw variant swivel installed directly in the middle of the 2 screw cut out.
Also of note is the smoothed weld, but not ornate safety.
As a Kokura subcontracted rifle, even this late 27th series rifle still has a plumb style bolt handle, which is 100% correct for this rifle.
